Covid 19 Infection, Prevention and Control

From the government guidance I have developed an Infection Control and Prevention Policy and risk assessment against Covid – 19. These Are available to view in my therapy room and below.

What is Covid 19 or Coronavirus?

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.  Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.

The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face.

The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).

At this time, Vaccination is well under way, but in the meantime we need to ensure that we are keeping each other as safe as possible.

Prevention of Covid 19

To prevent infection and to slow transmission of COVID-19, We need to do the following:

  1. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or clean them with 70% alcohol-based hand rub.
  2. Maintain at least 2 metre distance between you and other people.
  3. Avoid touching your face.
  4. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
  5. Stay home if you feel unwell.
  6. Wear you face mask/covering when in enclosed public spaces, shops and public transport
  7. Practice physical distancing by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from large groups of people.
  8. When wearing masks in public, gel your hands or wash them before taking your mask off.

Covid 19 Symptoms

COVID-19 affects different people in different ways. Most infected people will develop mild to moderate illness and recover without hospitalization.

Most common symptoms:

  1. fever.
  2. dry cough.
  3. loss of taste and/or smell.

Less common symptoms:

  1. aches and pains.
  2. sore throat.
  3. diarrhoea.
  4. conjunctivitis.
  5. headache.
  6. Tiredness
  7. a rash on skin, or discolouration of fingers or toes.

If you have any of these symptoms then please do not book or attend your appointment. No cancellation fees will be charged if you cancel your appointment for this reason. Always seek medical attention if you are concerned about your health.

What will happen when I book an appointment?

I really cant wait to welcome you for your Bowen Therapy, but I want to ensure that it is safe for us all to enjoy and benefit from so, below is my plan of how your appointments will look.

🦠 Clients can make appointments by calling me on 07557977518 or by booking via the website providing they are not symptomatic of Covid 19 or any other infection for the past 10 days.

🦠Clients can not make appointments if they have had any foreign travel to a restricted area within 10 days or if live with anyone symptomatic as you should be In self isolation for 10 days.

🦠 Instead of me doing a face to face health questionnaire and consent form, these will be emailed to you for you to complete and sign electronically, please ensure it is completed as accurately as possible. All existing clients will recieve one also when Re-booking again so that I can update your records.

🦠 For legal reasons I keep records of all clients personal details such as name, address and contact details. Therefore, should you require to be contacted for the test and trace service I have this information available.

🦠 All blankets and couch covers have been removed from my treatment room. Clients are welcome to bring their own bath towel, but as I can treat clients with light clothing on this isn’t a big issue.

🦠 All pillows and bolster cushions in my clinic are wipeable.

🦠 Hand hygiene facilities are available for clients when they enter and leave. Please decontaminate your hands.

🦠 Toilet facilities are available for clients.

🦠 All children 16 and under are still required to have a chaperone.

🦠 Clients will not be able to wait to be seen. This has always been the case in my treatment room. So it is best to come at your booked time.

🦠 Less appointments will be available to allow for thorough cleaning and ventilation between each client.

🦠 Within my clinic I will not be using bleach based products, I will be using Dew Disinfect & Superclean products. Which is 30% more effectIve at killing bacteria, viruses and fungi than bleach. These are products are electrolysed water based and are free from harsh chemicals, cruelty-free, vegan-friendly. I also have a mister where the harmless particles will be diffused into the air in between clients. Further information can be found here;

🦠 I have the facility to demonstrate to you how to do some basic Bowen Therapy moves online, this will remain in place.

🦠 Clients are reminded to bring a face mask or covering for themselves to wear during their appointment, unless exempt for medical reasons. For myself I will be changing my T-shirt and reusable mask between clients. These will be washed at the end of the clinic. My visor is wipeable and will be cleaned between clients. I will not be wearing gloves but will be washing my hands before and after I have contact with a client, and in between where relevant.

🦠 Clients can pay for their appointments online if they book online or can pay via card or cash at the time of their appointment.

🦠 Water is available in my reception which I can give you a cup off after your treatment. However, you are more than welcome to bring your own bottle of water.

In a past career I was an Infection Control Nurse Specialist for many years. This is what my Masters degree is in, so you can rest assured that I will do my best to make your Bowen Therapy a great and safe experience.
